Entrance to the aircraft is made from the rear ladder, between the tail gunners position and the waist gunners position.
This photo is looking aft towards the rear gun turret from the top of the ladder. The tail gunners position in the B-24 was much easier to reach then that of the B-17.
From the just outside of the rear turret looking forward. Both waist guns and the ball turret are visible. Notice the yellow oxygen bottles on the ceiling.
Close up view of the ball turret in the B-24. The B-24's ball turret was retractable. The B-17's ball turret was not retractable.
Waist gunners view on a B-24
Moving forward from the ball turret you enter the Bomb Bay. It's a tight squeeze to move forward towards the cockpit. The bomb bay doors are open in this view.
Looking aft through the bomb bay towards the waist gunners position.
The cockpit of the Consolidated B-24 Liberator
The B-24's front turret reached through the bombardiers position.
This view of the front of the aircraft shows the bombardiers position under the front turret. The bombardiers position is a tight spot. With the nose wheel retracted it's pretty crowded in there.
Great pictures of flight and ground crew in period dress.
